Conditions of the habitat (I)

The habitat: Forest floor
The forest floor is very wet and humid and has the highest temperature among all places in the forest. Sunlight is only received in places where there are gaps in the canopy. Due to the humidity, fungi are also abundant. There is hardly any climate change and the only season is the rainy season. The average temperature in the forest floor is higher than 30°C and annual rainfall received ranges from 250-1000cm. Due to such high rainfall, the soil is extensively weathered and is poor in nutrients. However, aluminum and iron oxide are abundant. The rapid nutrient cycle also supports a huge diversity of vegetation.

Background research about FOOD PRODUCERS :D

From http://library.thinkquest.org/11353/food.htm:

Producers: these include all green plants. These are also known as autotrophs, since they make their own food. Producers are able to harness the energy of the sun to make food. Ultimately, every (aerobic) organism is dependent on plants for oxygen (which is the waste product from photosynthesis) and food (which is produced in the form of glucose through photosynthesis). They make up the bulk of the food chain or web.
This means that the producer I create must be able to produce it's own food. The other characteristics of the creature can be set by me. This makes the task a lot easier!
